You are never too old, never too sick and never too late in life to practice yoga
Frequently Asked Questions
What Classes are best for complete Beginners?
What if you have a base level of fitness or some previous Yoga experience?
What style of Yoga do you teach and how do I choose the best class for me?
What is Hot Yoga, why is it good for you & what classes are available?
Hot Yoga is a different type of Yoga than conventional Yoga. It is heated by specialist infrared heaters which produce a different heat to the normal heating systems in our homes. This type of heat will warm you up and you will sweat, but it wont be an uncomfortable heat where you feel the need to open windows and put fans on!
The biggest benefit for Hot Yoga is the ability to gain more flexibility due to your muscles warming up quicker in the heat, enabling you to get deeper into poses. Another great benefit is that you sweat, this cleanses and detoxifies the body and boosts your immune system. It also burns more calories!! Hot Yoga also boosts your mood and decreases stress...what more could you want!!
What style of Yoga is Hot Yoga? You can teach any type of Yoga in a heated environment and call is Hot Yoga. People often get mixed up and think all Hot Yoga is Bikram Yoga but it is not. Bikram Yoga is a set sequence, we do not practice Bikram Yoga at B-Hot Yoga. We have 2 styles of Hot Yoga classes available, Hot Flow and Warm Yin.
Our Hot Flow is similar to a gentle vinyasa flow class only hot! You will need either a base level of fitness or some previous Yoga experience for the How Flow, taking it easy whenever you need until you get used to practicing in a hot room. It would be a good idea to join onto one of our beginner friendly classes like beginners yoga, gentle flow or morning yoga classes in our main studio to get used to practicing Yoga before adding heat.
The Warm Yin classes are made for relaxation!! Holding relaxing floor based poses for 3-5 minutes. There is no previous experience required for our Warm Yin practice, complete beginners are welcome!

What is Yoga and do you need to be flexible?
Yoga involves the physical practice of Yoga called asanas and breathing exercises called pranayama. It also includes meditation and can promote self-enquiry. In simple terms, you make shapes with your body to help increase your flexibility and make you stronger, you practice breathing techniques which has a clearing and healing effect on the body and you practice meditation techniques to enable your mind to slow down, relax, focus and become more present. All together these help to bring balance into your body and mind. And you don’t need to be flexible to start Yoga because practicing Yoga makes you flexible, that’s why we do it, to improve our flexibility.
What are the benefits of Yoga?
I’m really nervous about coming to a class, is that normal?
Yes! Most people, and I would say above 90% of people are nervous when they first join! They worry about how they will look in class, if they will be good at Yoga etc. Just know there is no good or bad at Yoga, it is not a sport where you are competing against others. The only person you can compare yourself to is yourself over time of practicing Yoga. One of the hardest things to do is to make that first step and come to class, after you’ve made that step and realise how friendly and un-judgemental B-Yoga Studio is (teachers and students) you will wonder why you haven’t joined sooner! And no we can’t all stand on our heads or touch our toes, we are normal people practicing Yoga that is suitable for our bodies, whatever your age or ability. And we practice Yoga not just because we enjoy it (because believe me it can get very addictive) but so that we can live happier, healthier lives!
What other wellbeing services do you provide?
We hold Sound Healing (Gong Bath) events periodically throughout the year. Sound healing has a clearing effect on the body, helping to break up negative and limiting tough patterns as well as clear emotional issues, often allowing aches and pains to subside. This is a deeply relaxing and healing experience, not to be missed! Please see our events page for our next sound healing event.
